Nikki_Laoye_1 Nikki Laoye is a multiple award winning Urban/Contemporary singer, songwriter, Radio host and Humanitarian from Lagos state, Nigeria. Fondly called “the small one with the big voice”, the dynamic recording artiste, who is also a prolific trained dancer, is well renowned for her eclectic musical expressions with the fusion of R & B, Rock, Soul, Gospel, Pop, HipHop and more.
With a musical career spanning over 9 years, Nikki Laoye has received numerous awards including a collective number of nine (9) awards since her muscial comeback in 2013 with the hit singles, “Only You” and “123”. nikki-laoye-123-project-deluxe1
Some of the awards include the recent 2014 AFRIMA award for Best Female Artiste in African Inspirational Music; 2014 Female Artist of the Year Africa for the Africa Gospel Music Awards,London UK; Headies 2013 Best Vocal Perfomance (Female) and 2014 Best Soft Rock/Alternative Video – Only You for the Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA).
In 2013, Nikki Laoye gained the moniker – “ANTHEM GIRL” as she was commissioned by EbonyLife TV (Africa’s first global black entertainment network) to record her own version of the Nigerian National Anthem. Produced and Directed by EbonyLife TV, its video was shot under the largest flag in Africa in the city of Calabar, Nigeria and now renowned as the official Nigerian National Anthem Video.
A woman of many parts, Nikki Laoye is the founder of “ANGEL 4 LIFE FOUNDATION” – an organisation committed to supporting the development and empowerment of people with disabilities (visually impaired and physically challenged youths).
She has received humanitarian awards such as the 2014 Ambassador of Charity award and the honorary 234 Giver Award in 2013 for her innovative #BuyACane project( which provides support and mobility aids for visually impaired persons) and her constant advocacy and contribution to the social and educational development of people with disabilities in Nigeria.
Recently, Nikki Laoye was unveiled by the government establishment – NCFRMI (National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons) as the Celebrity Voice of Refugees, in honour of her humanitarian efforts and to serve as an ambassador for the Commission.
