mayokun Mayowa Adewale better known as Mayorkun is the son of popular Yoruba actress, Toyin Adewale. Interestingly, his dad is a song writer and film director, who also has been in the entertainment industry for over 25 years.

Adewale Mayowa Emanuel (born April 5, 1994), better known as his stage name Mayorkun, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter from Osun, Nigeria. Mayorkun gained recognition for his hit single Eleko, which reached number one on iTunes and gained 1 million plus YouTube video views, within a week of release. On March 3, 2016, Davido announced Mayorkun’s signing to the HKN gang and Davido Music Worldwide imprintmayorkun2


Mayorkun was born in Osun State, Nigeria. His parents are the actors Sunday and Toyin Adewale. Mayorkun attended the University of Lagos where he studied accounting.

He resigned from the bank to pursue his music career when he got called upon by Davido to be signed to DMW.

Music career

Mayorkun’s first single, called Butty Babe, was made in 2012. In 2016 the record producer mayorkun-biography-elekoDavido saw a video of Mayorkun covering The Money, a Davido track, and signed Mayorkun to his labels HKN Gang and Davido Music Worldwide.

On April 8, 2016, Mayorkun released his first official single under HKN Gang and Davido Music Worldwide titled Eleko,which gained over a million views in few days after its release on YouTube and also topped the iTunes chart as number 1.

Mayorkun then proceeded to drop the video to the highly successful song, and its video hit 1 million views within just 10 days of release on YouTube.

He quit his job as a banker to become a professional musician,after Davido called upon him to be signed to DMW, Davido them later featured him and other label mates on the song “Back 2 Back”.

On August 2, 2016, Mayorkun announced his first International tour with his label mate Dremo to the United Kingdom, which he would be touring 7 cities in 3 weeks
