AYO-FAYOSE-620x330Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose inaugurates technical committee on improved power supply, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has set up a technical committee to see how these problems could be addressed urgently. The committee, which has as members the Chief Operating Officer, Benin Electricity Distribution Company, Special Adviser, Utility to the Governor, the general managers, Ekiti State Water Corporation and Ekiti State Electricity Board ,has since swung into action. According to the governor’s Chief Press Secretary(CPS,), Mr Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti, on Monday,, the governor said apart from negatively affecting businesses, poor power supply was also affecting provision of potable water to the people. “One can imagine the hardship small business owners go through, people running businesses such as barbing salons, welding outfits among others. A large chunk of what could have been their profit is spent on purchasing and fuelling generators. “The health hazards of generator smoke is also there. A number of people have died as a result of inhaling generator fume. We came to office to also learn that most of the water dams in the state are in bad shape. “They were utterly neglected by the previous administration and the dams also suffer from lack of electricity to power their machines,” the governor was quoted as saying. He, therefore ,said his administration would get some dedicated power lines from neighbouring states like Osun and Kwara to complement what is on ground in the state. He recalled that he did a similar thing during his first tenure, but that it was not maintained.
