This is a touching sad story about two men sitting in wheelchairs for two diametrically opposed reasons. One is fuelled by gallantry and patriotism, while the other is fuelled by deception, treachery and greed.
The guy in the military uniform is Lance Corporal Kenneth Kulugh. He is the ultimate patriotic Nigerian who nearly lost his life in protecting fellow Nigerians from the tyranny of Boko Haram terror barbarians. In this photo he is being decorated by his Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, with the Purple Heart medal for gallantry in the fight against the insurgents.
In sharp contrast, the other guy is a traitor, one of the members of the Sambo Dasuki-Goodluck Jonathan cabal, who brought us misery, death and destruction. His name is Dr. Haliru Mohammed. He is the former Comptroller General of Customs, former Defence Minister, former Chairman Nigerian Railways, former National Deputy Chairman of PDP, and former National Chairman of PDP. Even though he is alleged to be perfectly healthy, he appeared in court yesterday in Abuja in a wheelchair carrying a walking stick and prayer beads. He and his son are accused by the EFCC of looting N300 million from the $2.1 billion meant for purchasing arms to fight the insurgency.
The moral of this story is this; Nigeria will never be a prosperous egalitarian society until we find ways to handsomely reward people like Lance Corporal Kenneth Kulugh and severely punish people like Dr. Haliru Mohammed and his ilk.
May God save Nigeria and Nigerians. Amen.
Dr. Idris Ahmed.
