The 33 year old traveler, Suleiman Hashim, who trekked from Lagos to Abuja, in celebration of General Mohammadu Buhari’s victory in the 2015 presidential election, yesterday, added another record, when he trekked from Berger Junction to the unity fountain, Abuja, in solidarity for the campaign for the Chibok girls.
At the unity fountain, after the two hours trek, Hashim, who is now referred to as the traveler, said he chose to embark on short journey as a solidarity to the cause of the abducted Chibok girls in order to raise awareness to people that these girls need to be rescued quickly.
He further noted that the trek was never a thing to gain fame, fun or any form of publicity stunt, instead, it is a sign of commitment and fulfilment to his determination to keep making a case for the betterment of humanity.
The traveler further stated that he has never been involved in any long trek before, as he just does normal morning jogging, but for a cause like Gen. Buhari’s victory and the Chibok girls, he is ready to keep sacrificing and creating awareness through trekking.
Hashim however, noted that with the new found fame that has come with the Lagos to Abuja trek, he is determined to touch lives of the masses in any little way possible if given the opportunity to do so and he is determined to keep using his signature trekk to contribute to whatever cause that favours humanity.
He also used the opportunity to deny any insinuation that he has been offered any position by General Buhari, noting that the papers that were been exchanged between himself and the president elect, were the letters sent through the villagers he passed through while coming from Lagos; while he hopes to meet the president elect on a better day after he has been sworn inn where he would present more request of the ordinary citizens to him.
The Berger junction to unity fountain trek by Sulieman Hashim, was tagged “solidarity walk for our chibok girls” and some members of the #BringBackOurGirls group, joined the traveler in the solidarity walk.
