German police have said at least 18 people were injured with 3 fighting for their lives following an attack by a 17 year old Afghan refugee which broke out in a train.
The teen got onto the train at Würzburg-Heidingsfeld and attacked people on board. Detectives say the man was carrying an axe and a knife and slashed at terrified passengers after the train pulled into the station.
Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Hermann has confirmed the boy is believed to have entered the country unaccompanied in the last year. He also shouted He shouted Allahu Akbar’ (God is great) before hacking at passengers.
A Police spokesman said:
“Shortly after arriving at Wuerzburg, a man attacked passengers with an axe and a knife
“Three people have been seriously injured and several others lightly injured
“The perpetrator was able to leave the train, police left in pursuit and as part of this pursuit, they shot the attacker and killed him.”
