GAME OF THRONES’ last season ended with a lot of folks cast to the winds. Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) went for a Drogon ride and ended up back with the Dothraki. Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) and co. were running Meereen in her absence. Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) had been imprisoned but done her walk of shame back to the Red Keep.
Then “Reek” Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) were making a run for it. Oh, and Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) was dead. He’s still dead in this trailer for Season 6 of HBO’s fantasy drama, and that’s a shame—because it looks like he’s going to miss a hell of a war.
A girl (aka Maisie Williams’ Arya Stark) is being given a second chance to maybe possibly exact more revenge, the Dothraki are gathering, Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is seemingly threatening to kill the High Septon who caused Cersei such shame, and she, meanwhile, is requesting that Jaime (or maybe her son King Tommen) show people what Lannisters do to their enemies. But, as Davos reminds us, that’s nothing. “The real war is between the living and the dead,” he warns, “and make no mistake, the dead are coming.” Chills.
Pause at: 0:15 for Jaime’s threat. 0:22 for Drogon. 0:25 for Arya’s reprimanding. 1:14 for some White Walkers. 1:10 for Jaime assembling an army. 1:28 for Ramsay Bolton’s creepy smile. 0:50 for … is that Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer) and Theon?! 1:55 for Tyrion confronting a dragon.
Essential Quote: “Dragons do not do well in captivity. That’s what I do. I drink; and I know things.”—Tyrion Lannister, to Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel)
