THEME: ARE YOU ASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL?
TEXT: Romans10:11, Mark 8:38
10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
8:38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16
The gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ is not something any true believer should be ashamed of. God is a living God. As His children, we should be proud of Him. Many people are still ashamed of preaching the gospel. Some still put their Bible inside nylon bags, newspaper pages and magazines for fear of being seen by those they were drinking with before and others they were into unworthy lifestyles with. Some do not want to be identified as fanatics. Whatever be the reason, the truth remains that our God is a good God; we cannot put Him in a straitjacket.
The danger in being ashamed of God is that He will also be ashamed of you. When God is ashamed of you, He becomes separated from you. His glory is withdrawn. So, be bold to serve Him; to preach His word and to live a life worthy of a believer.
Sing a few warfare songs, thank God for yet another day and then take the following prayer points.
1. O God, because we have the boldness to enter into the holy of holies by the blood of Jesus Christ, I command the spirit of boldness to enter me. I ask for boldness to preach your word and to live the life of a true believer,in Jesus’ name.
2. Your word says that whosoever believes in your name will never be ashamed, (Romans 10:11) I stand upon the above scripture and begin to nullify every program of shame for my life. I decree that shame will never be my portion. I reject shame in all its ramification. Whatever stands to make me ashamed; in the name of Jesus i cast you off.
3. Father, by your grace and power,I come into the throne of grace with every boldness I can muster knowing fully well that this is the time of mercy. Let your great mercy begin to manifest upon my life, in Jesus’ name.
