Eberechukwu Nwizu is a Nollywood actress with the stage name Bayray McNwizu. She stormed the movie scene when she won the Amstel Malta Box Office (AMBO) competition some years ago. Now an actress, she has appeared in movies like Cindy’s Notes and Mnet’s TV series, Tinsel and many others. In this interview with JOAN OMIONAWELE, she talks about her career and other issues.
What have you had up your sleeves lately?
A couple of things. I was recently featured in a stage play entitled: ‘The Lion and the Jewel’ by professor Wole Soyinka, which is showing at the Freedom Park and I am now gearing up to host the Best Of Nollywood (BON) Awards coming up soon.
Your pet project, ‘Girls Rock’, how far have you gone with it?
We have written to several schools and the response is encouraging.
What did you write to the schools about?
We wrote to them on a project on self-belief and sensitisation for young girls.
What events in your growing up days informed that?
I had a mum who was constantly talking to me and teaching me new things and that has made me who I am today. I found that sometimes we women find it easy to blame other people for our problems but if we believed quite early in our lives that we could handle any situation effectively and know that our input to this world was very key, we would act differently on several levels.
