Kunle Afolayan found a surprise guest in favourite Hollywood actor, Denzel Washington, at the premiere of his latest flick, October 1, at the Pan African Film Festival held at the RAVE Cinemas. 15, Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza, Los Angeles, USA on Sunday. October 1 has joined more than 150 films that got attention at the Pan. African Film Festivals with entries from United States of America, Europe, the Carribean, the South Pacific, Latin America and Canada. Kunle Afolayan and Denzel had a private moment to talk about African films and areas of collaboration in the future. Afolayan shared what Denzel told him. “We also talked about future project and he said he was looking forward to coming to Lagos. The award winning filmmaker who is at the pre-production of his next movie, The CEO, said the chances are bright Denzel features in his next movie which would have a Pan-African cast from Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Kenya, Ivory Coast, France and China.
Kunle Afolayan was excited that at the Los Angeles cinemas, October 1, enjoyed rave reviews from the audience and the jury. In an earlier interview, Afolayan, who was also an award winner of African Magic Viewer Choice Award said ‘October 1’ is not just an entertainment film, but also informative. “For the older generation, especially those who were part of independence, they will be able to see themselves in this film. “For the younger generation it’s a platform for many of them who don’t know the story of Nigeria. “We want the younger generation to know where we are coming from and the older generation to see if we are moving in the right direction,” he explained. He added: “The film had received sponsorships from Lagos State Government, Toyota, Elizade Motors and Sovereign Trust Insurance
