The on-going battle between Nigerian pop star, Wizkid and blogger Linda Ikeji has taken another turn. Wizkid who already threatened to send his underage cousin to beat up the blogger could spend up to seven years in jail if found guilty.
It was confirmed today that the blogger has filed a petition to the Lagos Police, alleging threat to her life. We could not immediately confirm from the Police force as a spokesperson failed to respond to enquirers, but multiple sources who are in the know, told us reliably that the blogger got the Police to invite Wizkid for a chat. He allegedly failed to show up.
A lawyer told Thenetng: ‘under the Nigerian Constitution, if a citizen is threatened by a fellow citizen, It is expected you report to the nearest Police Station who will subsequently conduct an investigation determine the next line of action’.
Section 323 of the criminal code states that ‘Any person who, knowing the contents thereof directly or indirectly causes any person to receive any writing threatening to kill any person is guilty of a felony, and is liable to imprisonment for 7 years.
It’s not the first time Wizkid, a globally famous Nigerian pop star, is facing the possibility of arrest and prosecution for alleged assault. We reported recently that he could be prosecuted and convicted if singer Dammy Krane decided to go all the way with allegations of assault against him by Wizkid inside a Lagos night club Quilox.
Wiz has not always been a fighter and it’s possible, according to some sources, that this current attitude is ‘all a show’. We are currently working to get the reactions of the Nigerian Police and Wizkid’s Reps.
