President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan To Formally Declare His Candidacy For Nigeria’s 2015 General Elections At Public Rally in November. This is to be held between November 7 and 15 in Abuja after agreeing to pick up his party’s nomination form next week.
Although President Jonathan has been unanimously adopted as the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) sole candidate for next year’s elections, he is yet to formally announce his candidature. Earlier this week, the PDP’s national publicity secretary Chief Olisa Metuh said that 6pm on October 30 has been set as the closing date for the sale of expression of interest and nomination forms.
At a meeting yesterday with his advisers in the presidential villa, the president announced that he would pick up the form before next Thursday’s deadline and follow it up with a public declaration next month. Present at the meeting were senate president David Mark, the chairman of the PDP’s board of trustees Chief Tony Anenih, its national chairman Adamu Muazu and the deputy national chairman Uche Secondus.
