skales-new Skales Says He feature Wizkid and Banky W in new song, Former EME artiste, Raoul John Njieng-Njeng, better known as Skales, is currently living big under his new record label, Baseline Music . In this interview with SEYI SOKOYA, the Cameroonian-born singer revealed his sojourn into music, controversy with his former label and other issues. Excerpts:

How has it been since you joined Baseline Entertainment? Things appear to be rosy for you again.

Honestly, it has been a great turn around. I think this is part of the commitment of the record label to provide comfort for its artistes. The brand new 2013 Ford Edge, courtesy Baseline Music is a welcome development. I just want to thank God for the new wave.

Is the vehicle the only thing you got?

The vehicle is not the only thing I received. I moved into a well furnished apartment in Lekki. All these in less than two months. I am grateful to God.

But you were not living this big in your former record label?

No. I don’t think like that. Everything in life works with time and chance. I was doing fine when I was with EME. It was not as if I was suffering. You cannot run away from the fact that there are stages in life. I believe that this is how God wants it. It is baseless to lay claims because God’s ways are different from our ways. I will say God used my new label to raise me from where I was.

Would you say Baseline Music is a comfort zone?

Absolutely. The experience has been awesome. I have never regretted joining the team. I was rejected, but Baseline Music found me. They believed in my career and I could see that they are poised to raise my dream. Their enthusiasm spurred me to join and I am convinced that they are in for the game. I am not the only artist on the record label. I met Chido and Saeon, who are very talented. I know my stay in the label would be a great plus and I am ready to give my best. I would say this is my destiny and I am really honoured.

How did you meet with Baseline Music?

Basline Music found me the moment I decided to get signed to a record label.  I have known them for a very long time. Howie T and Dipo Abdul are talented people. We met often, even before I joined the label. I was alone for two and half years. But it’s like a miracle to get signed into a label like this. SEE MORE ON PAGE2
