Taylor Swift has done it again. The country-turned-pop star just scored the prestigious Album of the Year Grammy for the second time in her career for1989, beating out favorites Kendrick Lamar, Alabama Shakes, The Weeknd and more. And as always, Taylor was completely surprised by her win, but this time her shock may have been legit since Kendrick Lamar was favored to take home the top prize. Taylor’s win also means she’s the only female artist to be awarded with Album of the Year twice.
However, during her acceptance speech, Taylor made sure to serve a nice helping of shade to Kanye West. As you may recall, Kanye reignited his feud with the “Bad Blood†singer on his new album, The Life of Pablo, rapping, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/ Why?/ I made that bitch famous†on the song “Famous.†Well, Taylor was not okay with the misogynistic line and Kanye taking credit for her success and achievements.
“As the first woman to win Album of the Year at the Grammys twice,†Taylor opened up. “I want to say to all the young women out there, there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people side-track you, some day, when you get where you’re going you’ll look around and you’ll know that it was you and the people who love who put you there. That will be the greatest feeling in the world.â€
